My question arises from the fact that when loading a chemical mechanism in CHEMKIN, you just don't upload the mechanism itself, but a corresponding file containing for each specie its corresponding thermodynamic and transport properties. As it can be seen for the grimech files.

Where does CANTERA get this information if it is not uploaded?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

In Cantera, all of that input data is stored in one file, usually with the extension .cti, .xml, or more recently, .yaml, rather than in several files as in the older Chemkin standard. We have utilities to convert existing Chemkin input files to the single Cantera input file, which are documented here: https://cantera.org/tutorials/ck2yaml-tutorial.html

Best,
Bryan
