Hi All,

I hope everyone is hanging in during these challenging times. I keep intending to check in and some how get distracted. Today, I was buying a pick me up gift for a friend going through treatment and Judy walked into the store. It was great to see her! I took seeing her as a sign to reach out and wish each of you a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!

Hello Mary and everyone!

Mary, you read my mind; I have been thinking of you all. It's been such a long, long time. I hope everyone is hanging in through this nightmare of a year. Once it is safe, let's please plan a get-together somewhere. In the meantime, how about some updates from everyone?

xoxo

Hi everyone,

Thank God all is well with me and my family.

Hoping that you all have something to be thankful for as well.

Miss our get-togethers and would love to do that again once we are in a better place covid-wise.

Happiest Thanksgiving!

Mary,

How sweet of you! I too have been meaning to email everyone for months!

I have big news - I have moved to Highland Park, suburb of Chicago, to live with my son Barry and wife Jaime. I am taking care of my granddaughter Viviana who will be 3 the end of December and my grandson Hunter, who turned 1 in mid October. It has been delightful, challenging, and rewarding. My granddaughter couldn’t say Grandma Susie, so she said Zsu-Zsu - so I am Grandma Zsu-Zsu, even at the Montessori School.

My daughter who works for Morgan Stanley in NYC (but working from home) moved to an apartment in NYC, 2 blocks from the UN (pretty safe neighborhood). My other daughter who was a manager at Free People in Short Hills moved to Indianapolis, near my oldest daughter, with a job at Sales Force, software. She is also working from home and moved to an apartment - everyone is adjusting to a lot of life changes.

Whenever this pandemic is over (please make it happen!), I will be back visiting in NJ and hope to catch up!

Hope all is well with everyone - keeping safe and keeping well and keeping the faith!
Love, Susan

Wow, Susan, that's a LOT of changes! I am so sorry not to have gotten a chance to say goodbye to you. I do hope you will be back for visits, as we would love to see you. I am glad that you are able to be with your family and that your daughters are also doing so well. My cousin lives in Evanston; is that anywhere near you?

Let's hope this is over soon and we can find a way to all get together.

xoxo

Dea All;
Wishing you all the best!
I had a scare with my remaining breast last year and felt the agony of fear again as we all have, but no repercussions
so I am covidly careful with my husband here in the Florida Keys again, thinking of our time together!
Hugs to each of you,

Happy Thanksgiving, Ladies!  So happy to hear from everyone since you have all been on my mind lately too. Fortunately, my husband and I are well as is my family and his. It’s been difficult giving up traditions, celebrations and holidays but I’m more accepting of just the two of us celebrating Thanksgiving rather than going to my brother’s in CT, than I would have been 8 months ago!

Susan, you really have had major changes which sound really positive. I love “Grandma Zsu Zsu”!!

Well, maybe we’ll be able to have a Zoom meeting at some point…….

All the best, Nan

Hi everyone,

I was so anxious to reply earlier I didn’t include an update, so here goes.

I traveled to Argentina for my daughter-in-law’s sister’s wedding early March. Went with Gary who I’m still seeing, as well as my single son Chris. Surprisingly came home to a pandemic as there was no covid in Argentina at that time.

That’s the last time I saw my 5 yr old granddaughter, because my son Mike & wife Luz live in Zurich, Switzerland & we can’t travel there.

As I decided that I will continue to reside in my current home, I did major projects here.
-Converted from oil to gas, needed to bring gas line in 1/2 mile from the public road.
-Needed new gas furnaces, new pool heater & hot water furnace too
-Had 4000 gal oil tank removed -a size similar to what is at a gas station (looked like a submarine!)
-Replaced 28 windows, including new siding around those windows which needed to be stained
-Ripped out powder room & redid it
-Tore out landscaping and redid it as well as extended my irrigation system there
-Waiting for my 62Kw whole house generator which hopefully comes by Christmas.

Son Chris is under contract for a condo in Astoria.

Son Mike & family hope his company eventually transfers his group to Boston in 2021. At least we’d be in the same time zone!

Where does the time go! So happy you are all well and hanging in there.
Sounds like Grandma Zsu-Zsu has the hardest job of all! (But I may really be jealous)
Stay well dear friends and looking forward to having a toast with you in 2021.

Hugs,
Janet

Hi Ladies,

So happy to hear from all of you.  This year has really sucked but I have my health.  Working from home since March and struggling with the isolation.  First Thanksgiving I spent alone.  I just kept myself busy.  I've been trying to go for long walks in the neighborhood.  I'm starting to feel my age (64) because my hips are starting to give me trouble.  But I just keep trudging through.  I found a good therapist so I know things will be improving mentally.  I'm really in the mindset to retire.  I feel I will never be able to afford to completely retire so I've been thinking about options.  Right now, I'm just trying to make it to the point where I can go on Medicare.  It's hard to leave a job where your employer pays for 100% of your healthcare.  But my boss is turning 84 in January and starting to get dementia so it has been extremely difficult.  The contract that keeps my company going will be up for renewal in June and it really depends on what is happening with NYC real estate.  Tenants are not returning to the buildings and the owners are starting to suffer.  It's all intertwined and quite complicated but the bottom line is we may lose the contract which would end our business.  I know that regardless of what happens, my life will go on.  And after spending all of these months alone, I'm up for a change.  I'd love to see all of you when it is safe.  I think of all of you often.  I'm sorry this is so negative but I've been really struggling with depression.  I'm just glad we are still in touch.  I know this will take time.  I just keep telling myself, "You've been thru much worse."  We all have.  I love that Susan had the courage to move so far away to be closer to family.  Such great, positive changes and a real purpose in life.  I wish for the same.  I love you all.

Jeanne
