Hello.

I (as a developer) am setting up the infrastructure we need to use Camunda BPM in our company. Our actual situation is that i am running a Camunda BPM JBoss on my local machine, where everything is working fine. I start the Camunda JBoss with the option '-b 0.0.0.0', which enables other members of our development team to use my computer as BPM server communicating with our ERP software. I did this to make sure that my Camunda JBoss can be accessed from other machines in our network.

Of course, i do not want to be my developer PC to be our BPM server for our productive environment, so we need to set up a productive server.

Question 1 : Which is the best choice for the operating system for that server (Ubuntu, Windows Server 2008) ?

Question 2 : Is there some tutorial where setting up Camunda BPM on one of those operating systems is explained?

Thanks,
Stefan

Hi Stefan.

Every operating system which is able to run Java is OK – so I would ask which know how you have to operate the system. Both should be fine.

There is no special knowledge you need:

-          Setup server

-          Install OS

-          (Maybe install database)

-          Install Java

-          Install JBoss and camunda BPM

For every step you might find a lot of useful information in the web about tuning some parameters – but I think in a first step a basic setup is fine… If you make it available to the internet make sure you secure the environment properly!

Cheers

Bernd
