I have a birthdays/anniversaries/special repeating events calendar I made myself, different than the default Birthdays that comes with a Google acct calendar.

In Calengoo, I have it set to get a reminder for these events 1 Week before and 1 Day before. Gives me time to buy birthday cards.

I don't think my 1 Week before are consistently working now, though. If I look at my calendar there are four birthdays next week and I've only been alerted to 1 with the Calengoo reminders popup, and I know I haven't dismissed them.

I double checked that the 1 Week before reminder was still set and it is.

Suggestions how to get this to work again? I don't know how long it's been like this (potential version update bug) or if it's an issue with other, less obvious calendar events.

Thanks

Hi,

under "Settings > Reminders > Upcoming reminders" you can find a log in which you can see which reminders were displayed. Can you find something about the missing reminder notifications in that log?

Kind regards

I do not see the missing events displayed in Upcoming Reminders, but at the same time, the nomenclature is a little undeciperable (e.g., “reminder found at [long string of numbers]” or “searchNextEvent [long string of numbers]”) .. but I will pay more attention upcoming events for that calendar now that I know things might not be right.

On a whim, I changed the In 1 Week to In 7 Days to see if that makes a difference.

I’ll keep you posted.

small update - was testing other calendars to see if they worked and by chance went back into my Birthdays calendar only to find that my 7 Days had been changed to 4 Weeks. I tried to make it 7 Days again but when I backed out and went back in to the reminders it was 4 Weeks again. So I made it 1 Week again (which seems to be sticking). Definitely some weirdness here.

All these events are All Day, not timed, so I need to wait for their x-days/weeks out alerts ... a little bit of a slow process.

That's interesting! To which account does the calendar belong to in CalenGoo? Does it belong to the "Android" account or your Google account (i.e. a directly synced Google account)?

If it belongs to a directly synced Google account you can turn "Settings > Information > Sync Events Log > Activated" on, to record which changes CalenGoo sends and receives. There you can then maybe see if it has received that change from the outside (or if it has uploaded the change itself).

Please don't hesitate to contact me again if you have further questions!

Kind regards

Dominique

My calendars are part of my google account, so I went ahead and turned on Sync Events Log ... we'll see what it says over the next days/week.

But there's definitely something squirrely going on. Lately the reminders popup will appear based on an alert, I'll look at the list, X the ones that I no longer need to see, leaving the ones that I need to come back to. I almost never X every single reminder. However, lately when I tap anywhere else on the screen or go to Home to get away from the Reminders popup, I find later that it's no longer in the notification bar to go back to before another alert brings it up again. This never happens - I've always been able to go to the Notification bar (letter "C" icon), choose Pending Reminders/Tap Here To View, and look at the list. Not so much anymore. Very hit or miss now on whether it's persistent in the bar.

The 7-Days-Turning-Into-4-Weeks has not returned (Sync Events has not shown those reminders changing externally), but in the meantime I’ve added a slew of X-Days-Out reminders to test if this is working (right now the only ones that appear to function are 1 Day and perhaps 0 Minutes). I have reminders for 4, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 to test future days that have birthday events (6) and none of them were in the Reminder popup this morning.

Hi,

what did you set under "Settings > Reminders > Allow reminders to be set up to x days before the event (higher values make CalenGoo a little slower)"?

Kind regards

Dominique
