Hi,

I've used Calengoo for many years but a couple of days ago it has stopped syncing my outlook.com calendar. Strangely, the tasks (linked to the same MS account) sync perfectly. The calendar actually shows my outlook categories and colours but no events are brought into the calendar.

I have the Outlook app installed on the phone (Pixel 9 Pro) and that is syncing ok.

I've tried removing and reading the account, but still the same. My Outlook account is part of my MS365 subscription and is set up as using the Graph API

Hopefully this can be resolved.

Kind regards

Hi John,

I have got a few reports regarding this issue and it seems to be a problem on Microsoft's servers. It also does not affect all users but only some. E.g. I cannot reproduce the problem with my own account, it still works fine. Please try something:

Open https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/graph-explorer and sign in in the upper right corner (if you are not signed in yet). Then select "all my calendars" on the left, click on "Run query" on the right. What can you see afterward in box 4?

Graph_Explorer___Try_Microsoft_Graph_APIs_-_Microsoft_Graph.png

A workaround is to sync via the Android calendar: Add your Microsoft account in the "Settings" app of your phone under "Accounts" and afterward turn "Settings > Accounts > Android" on in CalenGoo.

Please don't hesitate to contact me again if you have further questions!

Kind regards

Dominique

I am getting an error when I run this query in the Microsoft Graph Explorer.

I sign in to Microsoft's Graph Explorer, select All My Calendars, then Run Query. Result is "Internal Server Error - 500 - 213 ms".
    "error": {
        "code": "ErrorInternalServerError",
        "message": "An internal server error occurred. The operation failed."
    }

I am unable to get the workaround given (to sync via the Android calendar) to work for me. On my Samsung phone, when I go into Manage accounts I find there is an existing Microsoft 365 account (but it doesn't disclose which account) set to Sync off for all items and I can find no way to turn the sync on. There is a "Microsoft Account" that does identify itself with my personal email address. Also set to Sync off for all items. Even the OneDrive account is set to Sync off for all items, but it is syncing correctly. It looks to me as though all accounts are displaying "Sync off for all items." I've no idea what that means.

In Samsung's native Calendar app (Manage calendars), there appears to be no way to add my personal Outlook account or a Microsoft 365 account.

Has anyone else been able to get the Android calendar to sync directly to a Family 365 Outlook account, using a Samsung phone? If so, how did you manage this?

For some reason, the Office 365 Graph API was able to sync Other Calendars in Outlook. But when I created a new calendar, moved it to Other Calendars, then copied all events from my default calendar to the new one, the Office Graph 365 API dropped those other calendars and so now there are no Outlook calendars syncing to CalenGoo.

Has anyone found this issue already discussed in Microsoft's support community?

The rest of this message is mostly a rant.

As a lowly Family subscriber to Office 365, I realize my annual subscription doesn't purchase a reliable product or good support. In the past, Microsoft's support community has provided nothing useful on issues related to something as esoteric as one of Microsoft's APIs and so finding a message thread that contains useful information has proven a challenge. I'm not even sure where to report this problem. In any case, since I am prohibited by my client's security provisions from running my personal account on the Microsoft Outlook for Android application (I can only access my client's account using that application), the Office 365 Graph API is the only way I've found to get my personal calendar on my phone.

The only way I've found to sync my Outlook calendar directly with my Samsung phone has been CalenGoo and the Office 365 Graph API. Now that appears to no longer exist.

Hi Mark,

using ChatGPT I found this explanation how to sync the Outlook calendar with your Android calendar:

  1. Install the Outlook app from the Play Store.

  2. Open the app and sign in to your Microsoft 365 account.

  3. Tap the calendar icon at the bottom of the screen.

  4. Tap your profile icon (top left), then the gear icon (bottom left).

  5. Select your account and toggle on Sync Calendars.

Does that work? Afterward you have to turn "Settings > Accounts > Android" on in CalenGoo.

But I nevertheless hope that Microsoft will fix this problem soon. Actually I am surprised that it wasn't fixed yet because as far as I remember the first report about this was four days ago (but that was only a single report) and today I got quite many reports so maybe it got worse today. 😬

Please don't hesitate to contact me again if you have further questions!

Kind regards

Dominique

Hi,

using Perplexity I found a thread where other users (of other apps) are having the same problems:

Here is the summary from Perplexity:

It seems that we just have to wait for Microsoft to fix it, hopefully soon.

Kind regards

My Calendar is totally empty.

The error is as follows

-
{
    "error": {
        "code": "ErrorAccessDenied",
        "message": "Access is denied. Check credentials and try again."
    }
}

-

See below screenshot - don't know if it is of any help.

Thank you for your suggestion. However,  I already use Microsoft's Outlook for Android application to sync with a client's Exchange server. My client's security provisions prohibit me from running my personal account on the Microsoft Outlook for Android application (I can only access my client's account using that application).

My testing returns the same results, whether I am using the Current or Beta endpoint for the Graph API. My personal, Family 365 account responds to GET All my calendars with the 500 Internal server error. A Business 365 account returns the response of "OK" for either endpoint.

I'm not sure what this says about the likelihood of a solution. Microsoft keeps limiting the capabilities of its Family 365 subscription, while now raising the annual fee in order to add a lot of Copilot features I don't use.

I'd be curious to find out of this problem is afflicting only people, such as myself, who subscribe to Family 365.

I have found, in Graph Explorer, that I get the "Internal Server Error - 500 - 286 ms" with my personal, Family 365 account. But when I test using a Business 365 account, the response I receive from the Graph Explorer (GET All my calendars query) is ""OK - 200 - 453 ms". I'm thinking this indicates the Graph API is functioning correctly for Business 365 accounts, but not with Family 365 accounts.

I am using a free outlook.com account and I get the "OK - 200" response, i.e. it works fine for me.

I am also experiencing this issue with a Family 365 account. I have synced my Outlook calendar with android and my events show up. However, this does not show events in their category colours and I cannot add or edit outlook categories. I rely on my colour coded calendar and so using the Android calendar is not a good work around for me. I hope Microsoft fix this soon as their android outlook app calendar is awful.

Hi,

I have watches several issue trackers around this problem and someone mentioned that a workaround is to not request the "conference" fields when loading the list of calendars. I have implemented it now but I cannot test it myself, because my account does not have these problems at all. So please install this new version over your existing version and try it again:

Does it work correctly again with this version?

Kind regards

I've also lost my outlook calendar, and I too am on a MS 365 family subscription. I'll read through this thread shortly and try some of the fixes.  FYI in CalenGoo I see 'sub-calendars' of my Outlook account, (ie a school calendar that is subscribed to via Outlook and the family calendar that is in Outlook), but I don't see my main Outlook account itself.

The new version works fine for me. It's a relief to have my category colours back for events.

Thank you Dominique for such a quick fix.

Hi,

thank you for your nice words! 😊

You don't need to change anything in CalenGoo. The workaround (which was to request less fields when loading the calendar list) has no disadvantages and will still work. And now also older versions should work correctly again.

Kind regards

Dominique
