Thanks Scott!
I chuckle though when they say "nationally-recognized expert panelists:"

From a YIMBY Action Slack channel I follow:
From Senator Becker:Dear Friends, E-bikes have become ubiquitous in the Bay Area and beyond. With less than 300,000 purchased in the U.S. in 2019, conservative estimates for 2025 suggest over 1.3 million sold. Yet with the fun and excitement of being able to get farther faster–and more easily–come questions, confusion and some serious accidents. Learn more about these electrically propelled two wheelers during E-bike Safety: Education, Enforcement and Legislation, a virtual town hall on Wednesday, January 28th. I’ll be joined by nationally-recognized expert panelists:
- Assemblymember Damon Connolly, whose legislation led to a Bay Area Electric Bicycle Safety Pilot Program
- Gwen Froh, Director of the Marin Safe Routes to School program, a national model that educates students about e-bikes and safety-related topics
- Bob Mittelstaedt, a retired lawyer and founder of E-bike Access, a non-profit focused on expanding access for pedal-assist e-bikes and promoting safe, legal e-riding, and
- Asha Weinstein Agrawal, PhD lead study author of the just-released San Jose State University Mineta Transportation Institute study “Exploring Electric Bicycle Safety Performance Data and Policy Options for California.”
We’ll discuss pertinent questions such as what constitutes an e-bike and what are the rules of use? What is legal and what isn’t? How do kids–particularly middle-schoolers who are not yet old enough to drive–learn to use them safely? And what is being done legislatively to regulate electric bicycles? I hope to see you there! Please RSVP here. Sincerely, Josh Becker Senate District 13
