Hand a flyer to each car driver-parent queued in line inching forward to drop off or pick up their child to/from school. The flyer would explain and provide resources/links for how to avoid the queue and save money and time: biking, walking, car pooling, walking/biking "busses," mixed modes - druve-park-walk/bike, transit, etc. Include resources - bike map of the area, voucher for free transit rides, sources cheap/free bikes, discount bike shop repair/purchase vouchers, info re bike kitchens, educational resources, etc.

This is a great idea.

The challenge it to overcome parental fear for the child’s safety while using any of these modes of transportation (except carpooling).

Hi Jim,

A good thinking-outside-the-box idea, but an illegal one!  A person would be subject to an advisal to leave per California Code, PEN 626.8. - Disruptive Presence at School (which is essentially trespassing on and/or adjacent to schools).  Additionally, if I was a parent in line that would piss me off.

I would suggest contacting individual schools or their respective districts to get approval to set up an educational booth, presentation, or other.

Respectfully,
