I am exiting this group due to the excessive censorship I am experiencing. Freedom of speech is hardly taken seriously anywhere in our country, and this issue is deeply rooted in our homes, schools, upbringing and culture where we are often taught to conform without question. We are expected to become a sheep without a backbone. I cannot tolerate this abuse of authority any longer.

I am happy that most of you are not subjected to such censorship. However, if you find yourselves under scrutiny in the future, please do not expect support from fellow members; it may be best to quietly leave the group.

As for myself, I am a very harsh critic, but I want to assure you that I hold no personal hatred towards anyone here. I believe that almost everyone in this group has a pious heart, shaped by a Dharmic upbringing.

Thank you, and bye-bye.

Dear friend,
I had complained that all legal names must be fully revealed in each message
for the sake of academic sanctity.  Please do rejoin the group with your real name.
Also I notice that the departure is not quiet as you apparently intended.
Best regards,
Bijoy Misra

The trigger for this decision message from Sri Mohit ji is the following message to him from me when he started his response to Prof Korada with the word "retarded" thinking in the beginning and changed it to "misguided"

Given the high respect Prof Korada holds , even 'misguided' is taken as disrespectful.

You may directly start your arguments without a lead statement even if you want to avoid a respectful opening as expected in a scholarly conversation, particularly when you are addressing senior and highly learned shaastra scholars.

I have been recently receiving many messages from different members that they are not able to read and accept the impolite and harsh language being used in the posts by some members particularly those who joined recently and are posting in a flooding way and they want to exit the group for this reason.

There is now this member who wants to exit for being asked to be polite.

I think the right not to be made to read impolite messages is to be protected , not the right to impolite and harsh expressions if that is what is meant by freedom of speech.

What is being stopped is not the expression of logical opinion.

Impoliteness , discourteousness and disrespectfulness  will continue to get stopped.

I watch Vakyartha Sadas shaastra scholars presenting their side shaastra wise very powerfully and aggressively with utmost respectful expressions and tone towards the scholar of their pratipakasha.

It should be possible here too.

The signature seems not to work for directly posting through google groups.

The advice was for others that they shouldn't have expectations for restoration of the freedom of speech and rather leave quietly.

I am not joining the group.

Thanks.

SAdara praNAm,
It seems that most of the young students
are quite aware of their rights like freedom of speech
but conveniently forget their duties!
They seem to be unaware of the fact that ours
is the only tradition in which you are completely
given the freedom to indulge in the way that you prefer.
"yadheschasi thadhaa kuru", but of course only after
giving due consideration to your duties.
It was among academicians who were after
name and fame only this neglect is seen as most prevalent.
So also with their students.
Foreign institutions are aiding and abetting
these tendencies among teachers and students
to tear apart the national social fabric.
Hence we should guard against these tendencies
that appear as "freedom of speech", "secularism"
"scientific temper" etc.
Only those who are against our culture and nation
will bow out from a group like ours.
Anyway, what happened seems to be for the good.
Namaste.
Prof. Sivakumar

Well done Mohit ji!!!

You are a modern day leader for freedom of expression.
Just as you have the right to call someone retarded/ misguided, it is Paturi garu's (and that of other right thinking members') freedom of expression to object to such usage.

By objecting to such "censorship" have you just censored the "censor"?

Something for you to consider: Freedom to walk the roads does not entitle you to the freedom of relieving yourself outside someone else's house. Maybe try some of your revolutionary theories on the White House and other so called beacons of democracy and we will evaluate the results with interest.
We are open to change and look forward to following your career wherever it may take you.
