Prayaschitta for 11th or 12th day bhokta based on scriptures

नमो विद्वद्भः 

I was in discussion recently when the learned scholars in Mysore about the prayashitta for the bhokta participating in 11th day, ekoddishta Shraddha and 12th day, sapindikarana Shraddha. 

Scholars advised that 11th day bhokta has ashoucha for 30 days and has to perform 1,00,000 Gayatri Japam and cannot take part as bhokta for another 6 months. However, in recent times, 11th bhokta is not called and Ahuti is given to the Agni and wrapped up. 

For 12th day Shraddha, bhokta has ashoucha for 7 days and has to perform at least 10,000 Gayatri based on the varna in the Shraddha. If one takes the nimitta sthana, then 7 day ashoucha + 40,000 Gayatri Japam. And cannot participate as bhokta for the next 3 months. 

I would like to understand or know if there are any scriptures prescribing these.

What you quoted seems to be a punishment rather than a प्रायश्चित्त ।

The शिष्टाचार as far as I know (have been practicing) is -- 108 गायत्रीजप  for  आब्दिकभोजनम् -- 1000 for मासिकभोजनम् -- 10000 for  

द्वादशदिनभोजनम्।

’शुचिर्विप्रः शुचिः कविः’ - कृष्णयजुर्वेदः (पुण्याहवाचनम्) ।

If any scholar asserts that such and such is the नियम then let him offer some प्रमाणम् - वेद - शास्त्र - दर्शन - पुराणम् ।

प्राणायाम for several times is prescribed in many स्मृतिs as प्रायश्चित्त । I have not come across any reference to that effect .

निर्णयसिन्धुः - तृतीयपरिच्छेदः - श्राद्धभोजने  प्रायश्चित्तम् ---

दर्शे षट्प्राणायामाः । वृद्धौ त्रयः । संस्कारेषु  जातकर्मादिचूडान्तेषु सान्तपनम् । ... अन्यसंस्कारेषु उपवासः । ... आपदि नवश्राद्धैकादशाहेषु भोजने कायः । 

द्वादशाहे ऊनमासे च पादोनः । द्विमासे त्रिपक्षे ऊनषष्ठोनाब्दयोश्च अर्धकृच्छ्रः । त्रिमासाद्याब्दिकान्तेषु  सपिण्डने च पादकृच्छ्रः  उपवासो वा ।

कूष्माण्डहोम is the final प्रायश्चित्त prescribed for  one who thinks he became अपवित्र --

कूष्माण्डैर्जुहुयात् यो’पूत इव मन्येत -- स्वाध्यायब्राह्मणम् , तैत्तिरीयारण्यकम् ।

मन्येत - स्ंभावनायां लिङ् ।
