Idioms in संस्कृतम्

Namaste,

An idiom is defined as 'a group of words established by usage as having a meaning not deducible from those of the individual words (e.g. over the moon, see the light ).'

शत, सहस्र etc comes to my mind when I think of idioms in Sanskrit. 

Forgive me for my ignorance, I am a mediocre student of Sanskrit, so this is a question within a question: In the instances where we find the usage such as नरार्षभ or भरतार्षभ , are they not idioms? 

So when translated, 'Bull among men' or 'Bull of the Bharatas' seems perfectly accurate in the manner of 'God among men' or 'a lion among men' that is often used in English.

Some prefer translating narArshabha as 'best of men', as allegedly, 'Bull among men' is a misnomer when translated to English. But is it possible to preserve the idioms while translating? 

Finally, I'd love to explore more idioms in Sanskrit. Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.

Examples you give come under figurative expressions आलंकारिक प्रयोगाः 

There are different other Sanskrit expressions like वाचोयुक्तिः , न्यायः, लाक्षणिकप्रयोगः etc., that may appear to close to each other but they are all different from each other.  

वाचोयुक्तिः is the one which is close to the English word idiom. 

I remember a PhD being done on the topic  वाचोयुक्तिः  . Not able to recollect the name of the scholar.
