Carnatic Music Guru is a tutor/player/lesson generator.

YOU NEED Java Runtime JRE1.6+ TO USE THIS.

Features

• It will generate / play carnatic music lessons for all 72 melakartha raagas and raagas with 6 or 7 notes in their aarogana/avarogana - for any thaala/jaathi combinations
• It can generate Kalpana swaram using Markov Chain model either from a notation file or from lessons
• It supports Veena, Violin, Sitar, Sarod and Piano as instruments for playing. You can select upto two instruments at the same to play the notes.
• It supports percussion Using Mridangam, Tabla. You can configure off/on percussion.
• Supports playing solkattu alone (very limited feature as of now)
• Have your own notes and play them too.
• Save the music as wave file, Western Staff notation (You need LilyPond software installed in your computer)
• Save the lyrics as a PDF. The notes will have subscripts, double/triple speed as overlines.
• You can also sing and check your Shruthi and set it for instruments.
• The software is supported in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, French, German, Spanish and English.
• Play krithis (available in internet) for selected raaga. Download the krithis to your computer. Use as MP3Player for music files in your computer.

To use it on a Mac, please follow the following :

MAC (The program has not been tested on a Mac Platform. Any feedback appreciated) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Download the complete directory of JRaaga-xxx-osc-installer.app. You wont be able to download the directory. Which means you have create the directory manually in your computer For example - see below. "Download" means download to that directory. "Create" - means manually create the directory in the computer JRaaga-1.0.5-osx-installer.app CREATE !____ Contents CREATE !_____ MacOS CREATE ! !__ installbuilder DOWNLOAD ! !__ installbuilder.sh DOWNLOAD ! !__ osx-10.2 DOWNLOAD ! !__ osx-intel DOWNLOAD ! !__ osx-ppc DOWNLOAD !______Resources CREATE ! !__ installbuilder.icns DOWNLOAD !______ Info.plist DOWNLOAD After you download you run the installbuilder.sh - to extract the application. To run the application, use the following commands. chmod a+x JRaaga.sh JRaaga.sh OR if java is in the path you can also execute the following command directly. java -jar JRaaga.jar For more help Press help menu or read files from help folder.
