Kashika vritti or any grammatical schools mentioning usage of Bahuvachana as a means of respect

I have come across Bahuvachana being used as a means to respect someone of a very high status in modern sanskrit and also in panchatantra. An example I quote from mitrabheda here 

Which Damanaka is using to refer to Pingalaka, his king. I wish to know if such usage is allowed via any sutra of ashtadhyayi or any kashika vritti. If anyone knows please do let me know.
