Hi,

I have bought 2 ardp pro licences (android + iPad) to connect to an Ubuntu Ver 25 server running on a raspberry pi 4. Connection via android smartphone is possible but for the iPad app (IPad Pro latest IOS Version) I always get a connection error. (See log below) Can you please support.

Hi Thomas,

Let's tackle the Mac/iOS version first. I did some investigation, and the root cause is as yet unclear. Here are my findings which my help you make use of the app to start with.

If you enable Remote Login (it gives you the option to login with a fresh session at the login screen), then aRDP for Mac/iOS works for that type of connection. The Remote Login connection takes precedence over Remote Desktop and takes over port 3389. It does not allow desktop sharing and asks you to logout any existing login session before it logs you on.

Remote Desktop (which listens on port 3390 when Remote Login is enabled) appears to allow sending mouse and keyboard input, but just shows a blank screen for the moment. I have yet to get to the bottom of this.

Do you observe the same behavior in your situation?

Could you kindly start a new thread for the failing Android connection and I'll instruct you how to send me logs to see what's going on there?

A few notes to clarify the way Remote Login and Remote Desktop (distinct features) work in Ubuntu 24.04 and later.

It's a confusing jumble of options, but that's what we have.

1) Remote Login, when enabled, allows connecting to the server when you're logged out. It's accessible from the Remote Login tab.

2) Remote Desktop, on the other hand, ONLY allows remote connections when you're logged in.

3) When both Remote Login and Remote Desktop are enabled, Remote Login takes over port 3389 and Remote Desktop moves to 3390. When only Remote Desktop is enabled, it listens on port 3389.

I hope this clarifies things.

I responded in another thread that I've discovered and fixed an issue with Remote Desktop on MacOS / iOS in version 48. For me, Remote Login always worked with both aRDP for Android and MacOS / iOS.

When you get a chance to re-test with the above explanations and with version 48, I'd love to get a table of what works and what doesn't for you on both Android and MacOS / iOS for both Remote Login and Remote Desktop.

Ios Version works only if Ubuntu Server Session is open and not logged out. During ardp log in such Server Session will be closed ( via force  Bottom) and you Can Use the remote Session via ardp. If Ubuntu Server is logged out (Show login screen) remote login via adrp is not possible.
