Please look over the survey and provide feedback. I plan to share it on fb on Monday.

Hi Yamato,

The survey looks great. A couple of minor suggestions to consider:

1. You might want to include a question about whether or not a stolen bike has ever been returned (and if so, did the police aid in recovery or did the theft victim and/or friends facilitate its return). Those numbers would be interesting to cross-correlate with the reports on record at HPD - particularly for thefts that might not have been reported.

2. On the second page, it would be a good idea to mention that HPD requires a bike serial number, if not registered, to file a theft report. They’ll also ask about the value of the bike at the time of purchase. Any distinguishing marks on the bike that can’t be easily removed also help with identification.

I think what you have will give us some good information. Thanks for setting that up!

Val

Yamato,

One question, are we requiring a persons email address or any sort of identification for this survey....how do we prevent someone from swaying the numbers and filling out multiple surveys?  If they do include their private information... (see question *9..."future interest," would it be good to state we will not be soliciting of selling their info.

It may also be good to create an official BTRT facebook page and email address to include on the survey...or we could just include the link for BTRT google group, in case anyone has any additional feedback or questions.  (thoughts?)

So far this survey looks great, thank you for doing this.  Anyway we can have the first question ask how many times per week they ride.  I also think we should include additional questions geared towards registration, the GPS tracking device system, HPD and future participation?

If they complete the entire survey, is there anyway we can include some sort of incentive...ideas??

Here is a possible first question....please feel free to change wording and critique these.  :-)

*1 How often do you ride your bicycle?
-I ride average once per week
-I ride average three times per week
-I ride average six times per week

* 6 Would you prefer the current $15 mandatory bike registration law to be optional?

*7 If we offered an improved registration system to include a possible GPS tracking device or other effective ways to track your bicycle in the event that it is stolen, would you be willing to make an additional investment to further protect your bicycle?

*8 If yes, how much would you be willing to spend for a future registration to include a GPS tracking device with your bike? Please check the range amount you would be willing to spend on this GPS included with your registration?

$15-$25
$25-$35
$35-$45
$45-$55
$55-$65

*8 Currently do you have confidence in HPD recovering a stolen bike?

*9 Would you like to be notified of future Bicycle Theft Reduction Team meetings and events?

Thank you for your support and contributing your time to this important cause!  Keep on riding!

Sincerely

BTRT

Thanks again Yamato for doing this!

In health,

Soha
