Never had a Facebook account. Somewhat bemused at how easily people have substituted this medium for real world connection to others. More distressing is the lack of regulation/ accountability for misinformation, propaganda, and malicious information shared on this platform. Sadly most Americans are getting their news and information from Facebook.

Not to bring everyone down … and being somewhat in agreement with many of the comments and criticisms of FB …
For the past year and a half I have been mostly bed-ridden … (much longer actually … it’s a wonder I was able to make it to our 50th) … not all-day everyday … but my waking hours are about equally divided between distress … extreme distress … and agony … (often tilted toward agony) …
I had over 30 doctor’s appointments with various physicians last year and none of them know what’s going on …
The odd thing is that on good days I look so good … vigorous, vibrant and healthy … that they don’t even seem to believe how sick I am … I even went into therapy last year just to try and figure out why I can’t get anyone to believe me …
I had to cancel two trips out west to see my kids and grandkids because I was too sick to travel … and I have a feeling sometimes that I may never be well enough to travel again.
<> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <>
Plus … several years ago I was totally disowned by my large, close-knit, extended family ... after I discovered that they’d cheated me out of a quarter of a million dollars … no family reunions, holidays, birthday parties, weddings, funerals … none of that stuff …
The only social event I’ve been to in the past 5 years or so was our 50th … (also the only time I can think of that I’ve had a meal I didn’t prepare myself) …
<> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <>
AND … I live on a town where I don’t hardly know anyone that is filled with bikers and gun-nuts who absolutely hate me … and make that fact known … so I have absolutely zero social life here …
<> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <>
Hell … if my son Dominick didn’t call me every Sunday … as he has ever since I was released from the hospital after my heart attack in 2009 … the only people I would ever talk to are the check-out girls at the supermarket and the baristas at Starbucks …
<> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <>
It’s a little bit, in some small way I think, like being in solitary …
<> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <>
On the other hand … my spirits are good … I’m working as hard as possible on a bunch of stuff … and I keep telling myself that I’m getting better … looking forward to getting back in the gym … and hopefully, moving back out west at some point to be closer to the kids …
<> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <>
But in the meantime it’s just about all I can do to get through the day and keep myself fed and washed. I try to keep the kitchen bathroom sort of up to snuff … but otherwise I live in filth and squalor … and there isn’t much I can do about it … as the forest slowly encroaches in on me …
<> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <>
So if I feel well-enough to sit at my computer and get on FaceBook for at least some kind of discourse … well … that’s enough … it’s something anyway …
You never know what’s going on in peoples’ lives …
