I was honored to represent BAA at the funeral of our late missionary teacher Steve Huiskens in USA a couple of years ago. Today my dad represented FCS at the funeral of my principal. Many do not know this but Mr Akume invited my dad to speak at the graduation of Bristow students. During his speech, my dad said that he liked Bristow and the leadership of Mr Akume and therefore wanted his first son to attend Bristow.
The following year at age nine, I arrived Bristow. The students who had been there at the graduation speech nicknamed me “the promised son.” This is the background of my coming to school in Tivland. I am proud of BAA and the long-standing relationship of my dad and Mr Akume in Christ which transcended tribal groups. As Benue turns 45, we must remember the ties that bind over the divides that tear. - Emmanuel Ogebe
