Hi Maggie

It’s a weed, Ardisia crenata (coral bush or coral ardisia) from eastern Asia. A garden escapee spread by birds.

Just a cute anecdote.

My 5 yo grandson came to ask me what this plant was after finding it in his family’s garden (His Dad sent him to me because “Grandpa knows about plants”).

I looked up the SOWN Weeds to Whack site and pointed it out to him, and we read a few other sites for additional info.

One of these stated that Ardisia was toxic to cattle.

So he went running back to his Dad to tell him that there were no cows in Ashgrove because this weed poisoned them when they ate it…

Love kids and their thought processes  😊

G'day Maggie,

... and it's really easy to deal with (so long as you don't have hectares of it).

It pulls out easily, and if you can recognise the white flowers early, the smaller plants are even easier, and the seedlings are quite easy to notice.

Trevor
ps. Glenn turns 50 in 4 weeks (and by then I'll be 75)

Hey Trevor thanks
The good news is that the identified plant is growing in a shaded area (but not for long because I shall remove it).
How are you 2? I feel remiss for not having seen you 2 for ages but I have simply run out of puff. There are tiny,  tiny embers in my bushcare belly but not the raging inferno I once had. I can barely cope with Stonebrook site for which I am Patsy 1. Isn't that sad?
Have you heard from Glen? I do miss his good advice and energy. How many wives/children has he had and where is he now?
All the best - thanks again
