I’ll share this with you…and you can send out as well.
It’s with deep love and sorrow, that I share with you that my husband, and Espy & Jennifer’s Daddy,
Jeffery “Mr. Sweet Potato Sensations” Thomas, has passed away…just days shy of our 49th wedding anniversary and his 73rd birthday. 🧡
To honor his memory and give ourselves necessary space to grieve, Sweet Potato Sensations will be closed for a few weeks. During this time, we’ll continue to care for our amazing team and take a moment to exhale as we begin this new journey without the rock of our family.
So many of you have asked how you can honor him. Flowers and plants are always welcome 🌸, but another way to celebrate his legacy is by picking up a Sweet Potato Sensations gift card. You can enjoy it when we reopen—or “gift it forward” to bless someone, helping us carry forward the love, generosity, and sweet potato magic that were at the heart of who he was.

Condolences and care packages may be dropped off at Java House (17336 Lahser, directly across the street from the bakery tues-sat), who are lovingly receiving them on our behalf.
Thank you for every prayer, every hug, and every kind word. If you knew Jeff, you knew he was larger than life—cruising in his classic cars, holding down the title of Detroit’s “unofficial but very official” Bid Whist Champion, and always ready for a round of golf. And no matter the meal, you could count on sweet potatoes being on his plate. His joy, his unforgettable stories, and his sweet potato magic will live on through all of us. 🧡
With love always,
Cassandra, Espy & Jennifer
