Dear BLV Neighbors,
As you enter our community this holiday season, you will come under the protection and the spell of our two special 6-foot-tall nutcrackers at our entrance, continuing our protection is a nutcracker in its guardhouse. This year, if you look closely at the banners with wreaths, there are twelve smaller nutcrackers placed in festive wreaths throughout the four banners. To add an extra twinkle, we have added additional lighting to the wreaths. Together, they create a joyful and meaningful greeting for all who pass through.
The tradition of the nutcracker began in the Erzgebirge region of Germany in the 17th century. Families displayed nutcrackers in their homes as symbols of strength, protection, and good fortune, believing they helped watch over the household during the Christmas season.
Over time, nutcrackers also became strongly associated with the beloved holiday ballet The Nutcracker, featuring the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The story celebrates wonder, generosity, courage, and the magic of childhood—timeless values that fit beautifully with the spirit of Christmas.
We hope this display brings a smile each time you enter our community and adds to the warmth, beauty, and celebration of this special season.
Warmest holiday wishes,
