To: <sbn-football...@googlegroups.com>

Hello, NFL! The draft is fast approaching, and it is once again (for the 16th year in a row!) time to kick off our annual community mock draft.

We’re doing things a little differently this year. Instead of coming up with a 150-word blurb we can put into an SB Nation article about your pick(s), we’re asking you to write a post for your site about why you selected that particular player and how they would fit with the team you cover, and whoever writes each post will get $50 added to their next check (as long as they are under contract with SB Nation as a contributor).

The doc is linked here, and you can just list the player’s name, position and school as well as the name of the person who will write the post about this player for your site so we can coordinate deadlines, editing, scheduling, etc. I’ll pull a blurb from each article and add that to a post on SB Nation and will link out to the posts on your team sites. The posts for picks 1, 2, and 3 will publish on Wednesday, April 14 at 8 a.m., 12 p.m., and 4 p.m. ET respectively, and we’ll continue that three-a-day cadence until the day before the draft when the final two posts will go live. The deadline for the posts for the first three picks will be the end of the day on Monday, April 11. We will handle SEO optimization, headlines and scheduling, so don’t worry about any of that. You can just email me off list when you have a draft ready to go and we will take it from there. And with that, Big Cat Country, you're on the clock!

Thanks for all you do, and let me know what questions you have or how we can help with this process! Have a great day!

I'm super interested in this - how is it decided who writes it, or is it a group effort? Down to volunteer if it's open season for it.

Usually it's a group effort to make the pick but the post itself is usually written by someone who volunteers. The money part is new, though.

It’s a new process this year for the writing portion. Overall we wait until the teams before us select their players and update the Google doc. Once they do we confirm who has been previously taken and get a consensus on who we want to take. We update the doc with our person and then one person here can do a write up.

It probably makes sense to get some of “our guys” down here to speed the process along for other sites. For me I’d prefer 3rd: Evan Neal or Thibideaux. For the 13: Jordan Davis, Devin Lloyd, or Sauce Gardner.

I think the question with Travon is if he's gonna be a No. 2 rusher or a No. 3 rusher in two years. But he also offers exceptional run defense, and has a high floor, and I am kind of leaning towards players like that for this team...

On draft day I will bitch if we don’t get Davis here or trade down but we can do Walker. What this team needs more than anything else is to get the other QB dirty. Hamilton, for me, is a generational talent, and then we have 13. I'm not a big fan of Walker because he doesn't get a lot of counting stats, and I bet his SACKSEER numbers will be meh.

I buy Rivers' argument that he's a high-floor guy, but I'd lean more toward Karlaftis.

Subject: SBN NFL 4/5: It's time for our annual community mock draft!

I'll throw out the first name and say North Dakota State's Christian Watson. The Texans want to upgrade at receiver and there are already so many off the board. Watson might not even be around at 37.

The names on my BPA would be LB Devin Lloyd,  LB Leo Chenal who is tempting, 3T Logan Hall, NT Travis Jones,

But my vote is for Breece Hall. Best athletic testing at RB since Saquon

Would love if we got Devin Lloyd or Treylon Burks

Generally speaking, I would very much be against taking a skill position here unless it's truly the BPA. We still need OL help and getting to the QB. No two down players, either.

Here's a vote for Matt Corral.

Devon Lloyd - cause it’s been too long since Caserio has been linked to a new Texans linebacker.

My vote is for Nakobe Dean - LB - Georgia for who's still left on the board. Here are some names of people still on the board (this is TDN's mock simulator). I also really like Jaquan Brisker and Boye Mafe.:

Given the list I’d lean Lloyd but Hall is really tempting. My fear is that you’d burn too much tread off of those tires before the team is actually good. Still, as one of the few players I’ve watched play, I can attest that he was pretty damn good.

I second the Dean nomination. Kaiir Elam also belongs on the line. As do Arnold Ebiketie and either Breece Hall or Kenneth Walker depending on which you like more. (Hall believer here.)

I agree with T.D, Dean is a high energy Linebacker who could play side line to side line and can make all the tackles. My vote is Dean if he’s available.

@Scott: Exactly why I wouldn't bother with a RB until the 4th at the earliest. I'd rather invest in the OL to get them jelled, first, then draft talent. Plus, RBs are still mostly fungible.

I'd be down for Dean or Mafe, as well.

He gained 242 on 18 carries against my Frogs. He’s special but he will have to be special for someone else.

Looks like Lloyd was already taken by the Lions at 32. Doesn't look like the second round has even started yet.

Kyler Gordon is being invited to the Draft, so he'd be a steal at 37 if he's still on the board.

Without those players, the current vote is a four way tie between Matt Corral, Christian Watson, Breece Hall, and Kaiir Elam.
