Hello Boxsters,
On this freezing, snowy and icy Monday we present a new Free Download to warm you up.
As most of you have heard the long missing files that Christian created have been found and are slowly being transferred to me.
Among them are many boxarts and related files that have never been seen.
This week's FD is one of them.
The 1968, Monogram boxart by long time Squadron artist, Lou Drendel, of their 1/68 scale kit of the North American B-25H Mitchell bomber.
This kit was first released in 1955 and with occasional updates, was available as recently as 2000.
The B-25 is best remembered for the 1942 Doolittle raid on Japan launched from the US Navy carrier, USS Hornet.
The B-25 was produced from 1941 until the war's end, with over 9,800 planes produced.
The last one was retired in 1974 from the Indonesian Air Force.
I selected a dozen images of the B-25 for your enjoyment.
All the images are 1280 pixels.

Gosh! ...that boxart shows Chris at work! The contrast/saturation are way too much! No box art ever had that much depth to it!
Thanks, Chris - wherever you are!

I did not realize Drendel did box art for Monogram. Now that I know, I am trying to picture in my mind what other kit artwork he did.

I assume the A-26, maybe Me-110 and Catalina? What else?

Yes, one of the Monogram Me-110s was Drendel.

Ahhh! The blue box series native to my childhood! I had the SBD, and possibly the TBF (? or maybe TBD...) The SBD was the first piece of box art I collected, followed by the Revell B-25. I still have both somewhere. The B-25 was one of my favorites. I love the look of twin tails/ twin booms.
