June 8 is less than 3 weeks out. R u ready? Can we get a headcount? If you're riding to the Lake (or just to Athens, but showing up at the Lake), RSVP here. You should indicate how many of you / your family are coming to the Lake as well: https://doodle.com/poll/vkehefyuqunq7v26

Below are sordid details. 

Start: 6a at the Bank is the current custom, but we may modify the start time based on further debate.

End: 307 Jim Crittendon Road, Hartwell, GA 30642. How far is it? Your mileage may vary, it's probably 105 miles from the bank (but only 100 miles by car). Riders should arrive between 11:15 and 12:30.

Support: we'll have at least 1 SAG vehicle on the road with us (Kimberly). Car will have coolers, significant amounts of water, bike repair tools, and defibrillation paddles. There's plenty of room for your extra stuff (food, change of clothes, whatever). NOTE: instead of bringing extra bottles, it's easier if you just bring your powder or mix. We'll have gallons of water to assist in your refill. [Any volunteers for a second SAG car?] 

Strategy: To Athens: probably fast but we’ll stick together. Approx 62 miles. We’ll debate rest stops in the next few weeks (QT @ 20 miles is optional). Definite stop in Athens at Starbucks across from the UGA gate. 

Post-Athens: Things get hillier for the next ~43 miles, we’ll split into at least A + B groups.  I can assure you that I’m riding B pace.SAG vehicles will help with directions and defections.

Bring To The Lake: Beer, change of clothes, swimsuit, advil, your family. Usually we arrange to buy all the food and split the cost so you don’t need to worry about bringing things. Menu is  burgers, dogs, sides, sweets, soft drinks.

The body count is at 9 so far. Fuqua, Speece?

I believe there will be a John Martin sighting.

:: This list is for the Bonzai Cycling group. Rides are called/confirmed via the GroupMe app; our regular rides are Tues/Wed/Thurs at 6:00am, a 20 mile loop from Shallowford Pres. Church. Longer rides just about every Saturday and other random times. No ride if raining. Bonzai is purely a social club, and no member takes responsibility for the safety or bad manners of any other member ::

I've got a buddy who wants to ride with us if that's cool. He's stronger than me so I assume no one will have an issue with another set of legs to pull. He'd stop in Athens with me and then head back to Atlanta so no lake party for him.

At best I'm in to Athens, but probably out all together.  We have an orientation meeting in Boone that weekend.
