Hey everyone,

I recently installed the Neurophotomterics new tool boxes, and when they wouldn't show up in Bonsai, I ran all of the updates in Bonsai's manage packages. Now Bonsai won't open at all. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this...? I've already tried restarting, clicking the program icon, and trying to open a saved workflow. Will I need to uninstall and reinstall Bonsai?

Thanks,
Tera

Hi Tera,

If that is the case, the easiest option is to reinstall Bonsai.

Regarding the missing nodes in the toolbox, this is likely related to incompatible Spinnaker SDK versions. Currently you will need to install Spinnaker SDK 1.29.0.5 for any spinnaker nodes and related packages to show up in the toolbox.

They are currently stored in the Spinnaker SDK online driver download website under the folder "archive".

Hope this helps.

Hi Goncalo,

Thanks for the prompt response. I uninstalled and reinstalled the newest version. However, it still will not open. I tried the instructions in the link you provided, but I am unable to find a Packages and Bonsai.config folder. When I "open file location" all that is present are Bonsai, Bonsai x64, and Install Bonsai VS Extensions.

Is there a particular method for installing Bonsai/Bonsai's updates to prevent this issue?

Thanks,
Tera

That is really strange, I have never seen it before? Does no error message show up? Does the black command line window show up at all?

It shows the black command line window for about half a second before it vanishes and Bonsai doesn't open. This is a screenshot of it before it disappears:

Hi Tera,

Yes, this is the update error I was alluding to. This is a known issue with the last update (i.e. you can't update Bonsai through the editor). In this case you will have to uninstall and reinstall Bonsai.

Just to make sure, I would follow these steps:
 1. Uninstall Bonsai through the start menu or control panel;
 2. Go to the Bonsai install folder (the one from "open install location") and if there are any files there, delete them (in fact, you can delete the Bonsai folder itself);
 3. Install the latest version of Bonsai
 4. Run and check that the small install packages window shows up and that all basic packages install successful;
 5. Go to the package manager, install Starter Pack;
 6. Install the Neurophotometrics package

Hope this helps.
