I saw that too, following it but it will likely be too rich to make any sense.

Hi guys. Thanks for the wake up message SkrattarTummen upp
VIN BL01831 increasing the number of E34 M5tourings in the US (this one in Texas),
was once owned by e34m5.de-forum member Mr. Alf Dickhaut before it started
off on a ,mystery european car dealer tour’ until ending up at still another car dealer
in Houston (?), Texas, USA.
Mr. Dickhaut sold the car after a 10 years long storage period and the car has
hardly run any extented tour (except for shipping) ever since.
NOT sold /R.N.M. on BaT.
If any interest in the car or for more details, do not hesitate to contact me.
cheers
Karl

Today I replaced the battery and discovered this unattached wire labeled "trunk sw". There is a male end for it right there but I'm hesitant to plug it in because I don't know where it goes. It's not for the trunk lights. For me "sw" is short for  "switch" but where would there be a switch for the trunk?
Thanks....
Bill K
BTW I'm pretty sure I'm selling this 1992 180K mile black beauty this year (after more than 20 years and 120K personal miles). Know anyone interested?

You say it is not for the trunk lights.  Is this because the trunk lights work properly?  The trunk switch for the lights is in the latch mechanism in the trunk lid.  The anti theft doesn't have a separate trunk switch, it is triggered by the trunk lights.  The wire to the gas door lock runs through the trunk.  Does the gas door lock work?  The connector for that has 2 wires, white and blue.

What are the wire colors, this may be a clue.  You can download the ETK and take a look.

In the BMW wiring diagrams BLACK in German is SCHWARZ and is abbreviated SW
