I'll be firing up a long dormant red 4-door today.

Hi Dave. Welcome to the group. We do not
judge here, only sympathize. Thank you for sharing.
You may have omitted the Futofab part, as that likely is a
contributing factor to your addiction.
My personal contribution here is that I spent the day, on/off amidst other activities, trying to start my red 4dr with no success.
Unfortunately the car sat neglected for
about two years. This past month I cleaned, flushed and
renewed the fuel tank, fuel lines, and also rebuilt the SU
carbs. All fuel systems functioning within normal parameters.
Planning on the 5-10 day fire-up.
Naturally, with no reason, it would not fire up. Standard diagnostics showed no spark. Working forward, I found that the coil had cracked, leaked fluid, and needed replacement. Fresh one installed. Still no go.
In the interim, I also cleaned and checked
al other engine systems: compression (182,180,177, 182), spark
timing, chain timing, etc. All spot-on and good.
After a long trail of tracking the sparking bits, I find the nearly new rotor in the dizzy had some corrosion on the center carbon contact pin. Did not conduct. Replaced part and --- right at about 5:10 PM -- the engine fired right up. It ran smooth and strong. Yay!
It has been a good day.
May all your Dimes live long and proper.
