Have any of you ever used the brass plugs instead of steel?
I'm just wondering if they are any better or worse than the steel ones.

Always. I don't ever remember steel.

I paint my blocks black and install the brass plugs afterwards

I do like that look. Customer gave me an L20B with rotted out freeze plugs and a leaking head gasket at the oil gallery. Figured if i'm going to go through it I might as well put decent ones in.

Rear Wheel Drive, the way God intended.
If a car is being pulled from the front, doesn't that mean it's being towed?

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

We'll, they do look better IMO. I believe brass is softer, so theoretically should better conform to surface irregularities and seal better.

Also a thin layer of clear silicone along the mating surface is how I did it., ala Kelvin style.
