So…Red has cool custom DRL’s/sequential front LED turn signals. I am getting to final wiring and actually connecting things to switches and realized the sequential turn signals do not need the turn signal flasher unit – the sequential is built into the LED unit itself.

DRL’s power up just by the key being in the ACC position, running 12v to the turn signal lead gives the sequential turn. Check it out here:

However, the dash turn indicators and rear signals require the flasher unit.  From the factory, the 510 turn signals are fed power via the turn signal flasher (after going through the hazard switch). So battery -> hazard switch -> turn signal flasher -> steering column switch -> lights.

Solution? Bypass the hazard switch, and run two turn signal flashers (one dedicated to each side). Basically from the steering column switch you branch each side to front and rear, with the rear (and dash indicators) getting the turn signal flashers in-between.

Now you can run two different speed audible flasher units for left and right. This way your passenger can tell what direction you plan to turn in. This is important when your passenger is trying to brace themself in advance of the turn 😊
