Sending this again as I think I used my wrong email address to send it from!  Here is an article that you might enjoy.  I have a subscription and I think it will let me share this (make it accessible) to people without one:  https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/15/nyregion/ultimate-frisbee-new-jersey-parking-lot.html?unlocked_article_code=1.xk4.q2e4.jFArkvMP5I0D&smid=url-share

Nice story! Playing in a parking lot is crazy.

When the fields are wet, it's the next best option!
Bring a First Aid Kit.

We played Ultimate and frisbee football (touch football with a frisbee where you had to pass) on a tennis court in the late 70’s!  For the same reasons; it was lit (and we generally were, too….. 😂).  The tricky part is that we played diagonally across three courts so you had to jump over the nets as you were maneuvering.  Sometimes you didn’t quite make it.

I made the quick pilgrimage to the lot back in 2017 when I happened to see the exit for maplewood while driving south. It really is nondescript if you don’t know the history.

DC ultimate has a one-degree connection to the Columbia HS parking-lot founders: Sholom Simon (formerly Eric) played there in the early ‘70s, then went on to co-found WAFC (and Ultimate Air & Space, where I was his teammate in 1983).
