Hi All,

I am trying to export a bingeom file from BlenderFDS but I am receiving the error message: "ERROR: shrink: Bad geometry: Too short edges detected (3268 edges)."

My geometry is an STL file of a sandwich panel made up of two shell body layers and a solid body middle. To simplify the geometry I have used a convex hull / shrink wrap approach so that it is one body with all the details needed.

Could someone please tell me the typical cause of this error message and is there a way to find the location of the 3268 edges?

Kind regards,

Hi, BlenderFDS performs some sanity checks on your geometry to ensure its manifoldness.

It is likely that your geometry has very short edges, so short that the size of the edge is similar to the floating point rounding error.
You can merge those vertices (double and overlapping) like this:
(I do not have the time to check the video now, but it should be the right one ;-)

Try that, if it does not work, open an issue and attach the offending file.
