I was happily using Quicksilver for a while (mainly using the clipboard),. For some reason I got out of the habit but now I need to reactivate it. When I was using it before the Clipboard history window stayed open until I closed it, but now it closes by itself, sometimes so quickly that I haven't found the entry I want to paste before it closes.

Some particulars:

1'm running OS 10.13.2 on a MacBook Air that claims to be "early 2015", though I bought it much later than 2015 (probably 2018)

I'm trying to paste into a file created by TexShop 4.21, which is generally very well behaved and not on your list of applications that don't like Quicksillver.

The Clipboard preference window has just three items (should there be more?): Capture history (checked); 20 items; Hide after pasting (unchecked, but I don't see an difference in behaviour whether checked or unchecked). I installed the plug-in today, so I suppose it's the current version.

I'm using an AZERTY (French) physical keyboard,  I have the U.S. keyboard available in the menu, though I normally never use it. The keyboards available in the keyboard are the standard French keyboard, which I normally never use, and three custom keyboards. The one I use for LaTeX is active at the moment and has lots of special keys, like option-S for \subsection*{}

Looking through the lists of posts for "Clipboard" I found one that seemed to be what I wanted, but it wasn't, and following the advice given (Uncheck Hide after pasting) didn't work.

If it’s docked to the edge of the screen, it will disappear on
mouse-out. Otherwise, it should stay around until you do something.

The latest is 1.6.1, but off the top of my head, I don’t remember if
that’s available for 10.13 or not. (You won’t see newer version if
it won’t work on your machine.)

That's what I thought it was supposed to do, but it doesn't, unless "do something" means try to paste something into an open file. In its present state it's virtually unusable.

Two things I didn't mention in my earlier query. On the set-up I was using when I posted originally I have a second monitor, so it wasn't too clear where the "edge of the screen" is, but wherever I tried I got the same result. Today I'm using the same computer without a second monitor, but it's the same. The other point is that I have my dock in a column at the left, not along the bottom of the screen. Should that make a difference?

I don't know what version of Quicksilver I have. If I select About Quicksilver I get a three columns of Chinese, plus some readable text in a very small typeface that says  ß61 (3900) ©2001-2011. Nothing that resembles 1.6.1.

I was referring to the version of the plug-in, not Quicksilver. Although
Quicksilver is at a very similar 1.6.0 currently. ß61 is very old, so I
would start by installing the current version.

There was a lot of work to improve the behavior of the Shelf/Clipboard
windows a couple of years ago. I suspect that will address your problem.

Just beat me to it, Rob! I was going to say...

Looks like you may be using an older version the app. Here's what my 'About' screen looks like with version number highlighted at the bottom.  As Rob said in a separate thread:

Quicksilver has been 64-bit for many years now. Unfortunately, there are a few versions out there with broken update code, so you probably missed quite a few updates may have missed an update.

You can get the current version from https://qsapp.com/download.php
