July 2025
Reunion Update

Southpoint

The 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment’s Blackhorse Association will hold its annual Blackhorse Family Reunion at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas, NV, July 9-13. To continue our connection to the regiment, the reunion will also include the Regimental Ball, which will be held on July 12. The reunion schedule includes the Ernie Ford Memorial Golf outing at Stallion Mountain Golf course, informal welcome dinner, Fort Irwin visit, Stable Your Mount social, and the Regimental Ball.

Reservations

We have the following rooms reserved for the event. We also discovered that there are 6 reservations for Monday night only; we ask you to check your reservations and if these Monday-night reservations belong to you, please contact the hotel and change your reservation (most likely to Saturday night).

Pick up

To ensure there is no confusion, please check your calendars and make certain to book the night you plan on arriving through the date you plan on leaving. If you fail to show on the day of your hotel booking, you risk having your entire reservation cancelled as a “no show.” Double-check your dates and book in advance. First come, first served.

Registration

A breakdown of our registration numbers is posted below. We have the largest number of golfers and largest turnout for a regimental ball in a decade. While there is an indication that we have 1,282 attendees for the Regimental ball, the truth is that we have 1,300, due to commitments by those who missed the cut-off date and promised to buy tickets on site.

Events

Las Vegas transportation planning:

If you are planning to use South Point’s Airport shuttle, please phone 866-791-7626 (ask for Shuttle Reservations) to book your spot on the shuttle as soon as you have your flight information. They do not make reservations on the same day it’s needed for the shuttle. However, if you forget to reserve and if there are unreserved seats, they will be filled on a first come, first served basis on that day, based on availability.

Arriving from airport:

South Point's Airport Shuttle from Harry Reid Airport should be met at Level Zero at Terminal 1. The shuttle is white and blue and has very distinguishable South Point logos on it.

For those guests arriving at Terminal 3, please take the Harry Reid Airport tram from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1. Once you arrive at Terminal 1, proceed to the South Point Shuttle.

Departing South Point: When returning to the airport, the shuttle from South Point picks up in the Valet area, which is located at the east entrance of the hotel.

There are several 24-passenger Shuttle Buses available leaving the South Point Valet area starting at 5:45 p.m.

Last shuttle bus will leave for St John the Baptist at 6:20 p.m. Please try to get to the Valet area by 6 p.m. There will be a transportation coordinator present to help you get on board. The buses will start heading back to South Point from the Church beginning at 8:30 p.m.

Stay on the I-15 for about 6 miles and take exit 33 towards I-215 and head west on the I-215 for about 4 miles. Take exit 14 towards Jones Boulevard. Go north on Jones for about 1.7 miles until you come to Hacienda Avenue. Turn left on Hacienda and go west for about 0.3 miles. The Church is on the left. Planning your trip:

Given the early departure, please arrive early in the South Point Valet area, where the two buses will pick up riders. The buses will be staged by 6:30 a.m. and will depart as soon as everyone is aboard but no later than 6:45 a.m. Also, consider bringing water on the bus trip as the 2.5-hour trip passes through the Mojave Desert. Getting off the bus at Fort Irwin, after traveling in an air-conditioned bus, is best experienced in a hydrated state. Sunscreen and loose-fitting clothing are also strongly recommended as the heat in July can be problematic for even seasoned veterans.

Breakfast:

Starbucks is open 24/7

Room service is available 24/7 at https://southpointcasino.com/dining/in-room-dining/.

Lunch:

Lunch will be provided at the DFAC and can be paid for by cash or credit card.

Upon return to the hotel, you may want to take time to get freshened up for the Stable Your Mount event. The cash bar opens at 6 p.m. and will remain open until 10 p.m. The buffet will open at 6:30 p.m. and remain open until everyone is served and the food is consumed.

Troopers will be in dress. Guests tend to be a variety between jacket and jeans, suit and tie, dress blues, etc.

Schedule says 1100 -1800; however, it says the bus leaves the hotel at 0545?

What time are we teeing off?

Thank you,
