Hi Oliver,
The raw directory contains the archive of the 'raw' events and media from the recording. By retaining its contents, the administrator of a BigBlueButton server can regenerate the playback files from source files at any time.
We provide the command
sudo bbb-record --rebuildall
to do this. We did this many times during the development of 0.81 as we fixed and updated the record and playback scripts.
Yes, you could delete it on the same schedule as the other files.
However, you may want to keep them for one (or more) of the following reasons:
1. The record and playback scripts got stuck on processing particular recording and you didn't notice it for may days. In this case other unprocessed recordings would start to become deleted (unlikely as we tested these scripts with thousands of recordings, but still possible)
2. There is a recording that does not process a recording correctly and you want to reprocess it
3. We update the record and playback scripts in 0.81 (unlikely as we're pretty focused in 0.9.0)
Regards,... Fred
