In the past when installing, the coturn was always part of the install using a host name and password.

wget -qO- https://ubuntu.bigbluebutton.org/bbb-install-2.6.sh | bash -s -- -w -v focal-260 -s bbb.mydomain.com -e emaila...@mydomain.com -c coturn.mydomain.com:password

I am not clear what we are supposed to do with coturn when it is integrated, is this correct.

I am not clear if we need to do anything regarding the coturn server anymore?

Also, how i can install a more stable version, as i have read that the first rc.1 still has alot of issues.

Thanks

You can use this https://ubuntu.bigbluebutton.org/bbb-install-2.6.sh and it installs the embedded turn now.   The flags look right.

2.6 is not production ready yet…   if you need production you should use 2.5 which still requires the external turn.

It’s getting close,  I’ve deployed 2.6 to friendly customers that are helping test always on the latest build.

Regards,

Stephen

Hi Stephen, thanks for the quick reply. i am certainly willing to help test, as i dont have alot of usage on this server, so i will go ahead.

However, my question remains on the rest....do i need to still use the flags for coturn, or can i completely remove any reference to them with this integrated turn server, please advise.

-c coturn.mydomain.com:password  not needed for embedded turn,

Hi,
I ınstalled BBB 2.6 rc3 with embedded turn script, but I have 1002 code error when I examined the problem some port (3478) was block from the firewall. When we install an embedded turn big blue button instance have to open the Turn ports, or only BBB FW Rules requirements are working with no problem?

Big Blue Button Firewall Rules on docs.bigbluebutton.org

When BigBlueButton is protected behind a firewall, you need to configure the firewall to forward the following incoming connections to BigBlueButton:

  • TCP/IP port 22 (for SSH)
  • TCP/IP ports 80/443 (for HTTP/HTTPS)
  • UDP ports in the range 16384 - 32768 (for FreeSWITCH/HTML5 RTP streams)
