Hi all,
what is the certificate renewal process in V2.3? The 2.3 documentation is not specific on this topic.

Up to V2.2 (Ubuntu 16.04)  I had to add a cronjob to regulary execute certificate renewal e.g. once  a week!

I believe that this is no longer valid in BBB V2.3 (Ubuntu 18.04) or Coturn (Ubuntu 20.04).
Is that correct? There is no cronjob at all!

Both BBB and Coturn are running properly but the BBB certificate expires in the near future. Is certificate renewal done automatically without cronjob?

Both systems have been installed with bbb-install.sh!!

I read something about systemd timer - is that a new technology used?

Or am I missing something and I am totally wrong?

Thanks for your help!

Wolfgang

Hi there,

I've just setup a new V2.3 instance with bbb-install.sh and I'm wondering the same.  Did you find an answer to your question?

Many thanks!

Hi Wolfgang,

Just FYI, I found the answer here:

Fred wrote:
"certbot already uses a systemd timer to poll for renewal, so we removed the creation of the cron job."

Cheers!

Hi Romeo,

Thanks for helping out others.  Let me know if anyone encounters an issue with the renewal of the Let's Encrypt certificate.

Regards,... Fred

Hi,
i'm having an issue with renewing the certificate. I'm using my own turn server, since than autorenewing won't work. I have to stop nginx and do it manually. Maybe port 80 is the problem...?
Can anyone provide a solution?

Regards, Norbert

i'm confused .. if oyu set up a turn server as per docs it doesn't have an nginx installed ... so where exactly do you have a problem?

Sorry, i did not explain it correctly. The nginx is part of the BBB server, not of the turn server. The renewal does not work in the BBB server since i am using my own turn.

ah okay.

it works fine if bbb is set up with the install script (albeit v2.2 needing that manual fix to suse the new root certificate).

did you customize anything?

set your own firewall rules etc?

I will check the firewall rules, did some changes there and will post here later.
Thanks for your help.
