Hello again,

We love all functionalities of BBB. We are using it to have meetings with our clients. Most of our meetings are one off, meaning rarely we have same people in the meetings. However, even we are using BBB out of the box, and invested around 300 Euro per month servers in Hetzner, we are still having time to time issues with clients losing their video. We believe (not being good developers) what we are experiencing, a few timeouts on their internet dropping their video and it usually doesnt comeback automatically. We are telling them to refresh please. and it is becoming a bit embarrassing. It happens to people with very good internet connection too. Not happen all the time, but does happen quite a lot. We also dont have too much meetings simultaneously too, maybe 3-4 max meetings, usuall with 7-8 people in each. So we dont think it is capacity issue.

We used to use Tokbox github solution(opentok-rtc). On that, also timeouts were dropping video, but it was always coming back automatically.

So my question to community:

1. Do you think we can replace video and audio engine routing our account on Tokbox? Meaning we would use all functionalities comes with greenlight, but audio and video service is paid service?
2. If not tokbox, is there a planning on future releases to have a solution for that? Like once they are disconnected, a code would to understand that turn off and on camera automatically?

Thank you so much all for wonderful product.

Regards,
Mehmet

Our focus would be on improving (2).  We want BigBlueButton to continue to be a 100% open source solution for web conferencing.

Regards,... Fred

Thanks Fred, I understand and I love your stand on this. However, having a fallback or auto renew function is something you are coding on new release?

There's already a draft pull request open implementing automatic video subscriber reconnections (targetting 2.3). I plan on getting back to it soon.
