problem with etherpad

Hi there,

I get in firefox very often for the etherpad notes:

An error occurred
The error was reported with the ...

Please press and hold Ctrl and press F5 to reload this page, if the
problem persists please send this error message to your webmaster
"""

And reloading by CTRL + F5 does not help.

Any ideas

Hey.

We've been following this error for a couple of days now. Seems to be a problem related with Etherpad's old cookies after a change we made in the deploy to flush data that were persisting in Redis. We already made adjusts to our Etherpad's fork regarding the cookies and will probably refurbish the Redis data flush routine. Unfortunately, right now, the only fast solution to that is cleaning up your browser cookies.

Hello everyone,

I've been working on this issue for the last day and I found that the problem is in the Redis cashing, so the solution of this issue is:

Go to your server and run redis-cli flushall 

Hope it solves the problem with you too.

Please be advised that the command "redis-cli flushall" will remove everything from redis, which will prevent any pending recording to be archived properly.

After running redis-cli flushall I had to restart BBB with bbb-conf --restart to make it work

Does it make sense to add redis-cli flushall to /etc/bigbluebutton/bbb-conf/apply-config.sh ?

Only if you have no recordings to be archived, otherwise they will be lost.

Even after running redis-cli flushall the problem occurs again. Also clearing browser cache and cookies does not help. For me this means, that shared notes cannot be used with 2.2.35

Same problem here. Shared notes do not work in 2.2.35. I will revert to 2.2.31.

For me this fix works:

Edit these files 

/usr/share/etherpad-lite/src/static/js/pad.js

/usr/share/etherpad-lite/src/static/js/pad_cookie.js

and undo this commit: https://github.com/bigbluebutton/etherpad-lite/commit/293e0e99c1f4402e1c995e9a3d6e2fe0d38cf255 

After saving the files 

redis-cli flushall

bbb-conf --restart
