We are pleased to announce 2.3-rc-1, the latest release to BigBluebutton 2.3-dev.

This 2.3 release candidate includes multiple bug fixes and stability improvements. Also it introduces webcam sorting on voice activity (enabled by default when video pagination is active, but could be disabled via conf).

Special thanks to contributors @timm2k @schrd @znerol @fireba11 @mrkeksi @PhMemmel @PlumedArcher @justinmogel @basisbit and others for helping with code contributions / comments / testing and proving feedback!

The full release notes for 2.3-rc-1are here

To try out 2.3-rc-1, visit

Or, better yet, grab a Ubuntu 18.04 64-bit server and install the latest version yourself (it will take only a few minutes):

As always, we welcome feedback on this latest update.

Hi everyone,

We want to get a large amount of community testing over the next few days as we look to release 2.3.  We've updated

with 2.3-rc-1.  If you want to help out the project, try it out for a meeting and let us know if you encounter any issues.

If you can run your own 2.3-rc-1 servers under load for a few days, that would be very helpful as well.  If we can get detailed steps to reproduce any issue, it's much appreciated as it lets the core developers focus on fixing issues more quickly.

Looking forward to hearing from the community on rc-1!

Regards,.. Fred

Can't get cameras back on top after albom orientation.
And is it possible to make "border" between cameras and presentation visible to make resize process easier?
Thanks.

Hi there!
Today installed on the local network. At sudo bbb-conf -check both in local, and in global I receive # Warning: Failed to verify STUN server at 172.217.212.127:19302 with command
#
# stunclient --mode full --localport 30000 172.217.212.127 19302

Hi,

I get the following message in the middle of the bbb-install script:

   │      New major version of npm available! 6.14.12 → 7.10.0      │
   │   Changelog: https://github.com/npm/cli/releases/tag/v7.10.0   │
│               Run npm install -g npm to update!                │
Should I upgrade as well?

I noticed that when a presenter is using 3 monitors / 3 screens are available to share but screen 1 and 2 are identical which mirror screen one. This happens intermittently.

Victor,

That's because you've resized the presentation viewport, which deactivates automatic positioning of webcams.
And then webcam dragging is disabled on mobile, so you can't move them back. The problem here is that resizing
shouldn't be enabled in mobile as well (at least that was always the approach since early 2.2), so the UA detection
on that might have regressed (or someone might've changed the behavior).

Can you please open an issue in github? Thanks.

That doesn't sound like an issue with BigBlueButton, but the browser.
Please try reproducing in https://webrtc.github.io/samples/src/content/getusermedia/getdisplaymedia/.
If you're able to reproduce there, then it isn't an issue with BBB and I recommended opening
an issue (or look for an existing one) in the browser vendor's tracker (Chromium/Monorail, Firefox/Bugzilla).

getusermedia test is good.. again this was intermittent (latest Chrome). One other note, when cancel is selected on Share Screen an error is present and should be suppressed.

Then please try again (a few times) in the getDisplayMedia sample or at least attach a screenshot of the error in BBB.
If I got the issue correctly, it's 99% likely to be on the browser's end and we can't do anything about it on our end.

> One other note, when cancel is selected on Share Screen an error is present and should be suppressed

I intentionally made the error toast appear on cancellations and I don't think it should be suppressed. It's there
to make it explicitly clear that permission was denied. Not everyone is used to the browser's convoluted screen capturing
scheme and making choices explicit to the end user was my goal.

While this may not be the issue, you have insufficient resources to run BigBlueButton.
