Hello Team,

I am using BigBlueButton version 3.0.20 and wanted to check if there is any available option or supported method to transfer recordings from local storage to an AWS S3 bucket.

Could you please let me know:

  • Whether BBB 3.0.20 supports direct S3 integration for recordings, or

  • If there is any recommended approach, script, or configuration to move recordings from local storage to S3 and play them from there.

Your guidance on this would be really helpful.

If you own the server develop an automated script to do the task for you in server backend.

Rajendra

 Couple of ways..

but you can move the files with bash script using  s3cmd or aws s3 command placed in the post_publish.rb script.

once they are up in s3 bucket..  you have 2 options.

1) just create a proxy in nginx to have the your bbb server serve the files. and just use bbb apl as normal.

2) upload the playback player in s3,  make an https://playback.yourdomain.com and server directly from s3bucket.  for the recordings up in s3 you can change the metadata.xml playback link to point to s3 url..   if you leave the base recording directory with just the metadata.xml on server then the publish/unpublish/delete/ api still works.

3) remember you need to handle deleting files out of s3 when you delete.

Have fun

Stephen
