Hey Everyone

I am a Technical Managing Assistant at Ryan Group of Schools, India. Unfortunately, we had been using Zoom Meetings for our classes (Basic Accounts). That caused a lot of trouble  and we couldn't seemlessly trust Zoom for hosting our Cloud Servers or managing our Recordings.

Thus. I recommended the Director of the school about BigBlueButton, knowing that we could host it on our fast servers. Each branch of our school will have their own bigbluebutton bunch of servers bunched together using scalelite for each seperate branch.

We have 2 * 128 GM ram, 24 CPU cores, server with external 100TB SSD Network Attached Storage for each branch, linked with scalelite.

What problem we had is that our Teachers and Students are not familiar with the HTML5 client of BBB. If somehow we could make use of Zoom's web client (written in node.js i think). zoom/websdk: Zoom Web SDK (github.com)

It would help us a lot.
Please if someone could help us with that, as I dont know coding...

Thanks in advance.

The license of the Zoom API does not allow the use case which you mentioned. The Zoom web client is not free/libre open source software at all.

There are already many addons and plugins for the Zoom Web SDK that are being used now. All these addons and plugins are at a cost, BBB is open source.
If you are to use the Zoom Web SDK then be prepared to gear up with lots of server hardware and resources...

Uh.. this is quite annoying to mention again about the Server Hardware I currently have, which has already been mentioned in my previous post.

As for the Zoom Web Client, I mean to only replace HTML5 frontend of BBB , with the Zoom Web Client.
I want to replace it with something like this:-

68747470733a2f2f7a6f6f6d2e6769746875622e696f2f73616d706c652d6170702d7765622f696d672f7061727469636970656e742d6a6f696e65642d6d656574696e672e706e67.png

I have NO interest in with the Zoom API. I just want this Frontend which is already free and opensource to work with the BigBlueButton API.
The idea of creating this post was only in relation with the BigBlueButton API to work with the Zoom Web Client.. and this has *NO* relation with Zoom API.

Also, just to remind you. The Zoom Web Client is free and OPEN-SOURCE at zoom/sample-app-web: Zoom Web SDK Sample App (github.com)

THE ONLY HELP I NEED FROM YOU ALL is to help me by configuring the ZOOM client to interact with the BigBlueButton API and add all functionalities and redirections to work with from this frontend.

When I say frontend, I DO NOT mean replacing greenlight. This has no relation with greenlight.
I only mean to replace the HTML5 client with the ZOOM WEB CLIENT.

IS IT CLEAR NOW????????

As stated earlier the license (https://github.com/zoom/sample-app-web/blob/master/LICENSE.md) does not permit usage outside Zoom

Looks like your project needs some teacher and user training.   Also the use of video and the experience is not going to be the same, and the expectations of what is possible needs to be conveyed.

Stephen

Hi there,

just my cents to clarify some understanding of the meaning when we
talk about "Open Source". When we use this word we imply the Term
defined by the OSI, see here

https://opensource.org/osd

Someone else can also use the words "open" and "source" and have a
different understanding of what that means.

If a description of software limits the Open Source Definitions by OSI
it is rather impossible to use code from one in the other.

regards
Reimar
