Hello All!!!

We’ve started the reunion train for a party next summer!!!!!   I’ve scouted out a few places and it would be great to hear what you think about each.  In the past,(four years ago) the reunion committee met at different place around town every First Friday of the month for dinner and a meeting.  It was fun to get together even for a short time.  We have always celebrated the reunion the third weekend of August.  

Thumbnail description of what I know at the moment. 

1. The St John’s Club: not available the 3rd Saturday August 20th.  may be available the 6th or the 27th. We would provide food. Bar is there. We know the experience

2. The Community Sailing Center: new facility on the waterfront. Outside covered deck is available the 20th. Catered by La Villa Bistro Catering, bar service, 

3. Echo Leahy Center for Champlain: on the waterfront: 

"Thank you for your interest in renting ECHO! We have some great options to host a class reunion. I don't have August 20th available but I do have the 6th, 14th, 19th, or 26th open. Would any of those work for you?

If you wanted to have a DJ or band, I would recommend renting our bottom floor which includes the larger conference room in the back with windows overlooking the lake, bottom floor exhibits, and we can add on the outdoor terrace adjacent to the space. The bottom floor on a Friday or Saturday rents for $550/h plus tax, but if you look at a Thursday, it would be $450/h plus tax. The outdoor terrace can be added on for a flat rate of $400 plus tax either night. I would be happy to create some more formal price quotes for you based on what day you would consider renting and a start and end time. 

We work exclusively with Sugarsnap Catering for food and bar." 

4. Elks Club: I don’t have available dates but we know the experience

5. Burlington High School 52 Institute Road:  This building has closed to students because of environmental issues.  I sent a facilities rental request fo the Custodial Operations Manager requesting either the BHS cafeteria or gym that we know so well.  I have not heard back yet.

*Note: All waterfront facilities are on land. I did not request info of the boathouse as I was told many years ago it aggravated a vertigo condition some classmates experienced.

We need to check available dates again because I have been distracted and did not get your opinion as soon as I should have.    

I would like to schedule a Zoom meeting for us to ease us back into what we used to do.  And Yayyyy, I’ve retired and wonder if you would mind a 4:00 - 5:00 Zoom meeting.  I don’t know if everyone is available at that time.  Please let me know.

1. The Community Sailing Center reached out and we are now locked in to use their beautiful facility Saturday August 20th, 2022. Yayyyy!!!!
2. I don’t know where we will be on Friday August 19th
3. There are still some kids in the class that we don’t have email addresses for. Can you help find that information. I will update the address booklet that we sent out 5 years ago and hopefully find a way to send it to you
4. No one has responded regarding participating in a Zoom meeting.  I chose Zoom because of the capability to have many many in the same meeting.  We could use FaceTime if you prefer. Is there anyone interested in a virtual get together?  
5. We don’t need to start our First Friday meetings this July if the Burlington kids would rather start meeting in person later in the fall.

Hi Steve,

Yes, we are using this distribution list for primary communication.  Unfortunately not everyone that is a member of the BHS67 Facebook group wants to be on yet another email list and so I send out the information here and then will copy important info to post to the Facebook page.  

It would be great if everyone here could 1. Think of all the friends you want to see at the reunion 2. send me their email address so I could add them to this private list or send me their name so I could invite them to our Facebook page.  This is the hardest part of a reunion.  Making sure everyone knows about it so they can start making plans to come.  Let's make sure everyone can come.

I have not moved my basketball hoop to the road yet.  Can’t seem to make myself do it..  Retirement is very very new and I’m getting used to it.  A bit untethered.

Hi Barb,

Sounds like alot of fun. We are hoping to be in North East in Aug so think that will work into our schedule. Great job arranging this. I can be at any zoom meetings before that.

No, no news.   The closet I came to news was a face time call with Lanny and Steffie.  Steffie asked me if I was going to go to the reunion and that I should talk Lanny into going. We just got started and the connection died.    I'll let you know if I hear anything more...
