Dwain Carroll Miller, age 88, of Mansfield, Texas passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025. As a devoted husband, father, Papa/Poppy and friend, he lived his life rooted in faith, service and love.
Born on March 17, 1937 in Bishop, Texas, Dwain was the son of Durwood and Lorene Miller. He graduated from Bishop High School and Texas A & I University with a BS degree in Agriculture. Dwain proudly served his country in the United States Army and worked as a career cotton and grain farmer with his Dad and brother on the family farm for 33 years. After he retired from farming in 1988, he enjoyed working for Golfsmith and several golf courses, as he had a passion for being around the game of golf, whether playing, teaching, or interacting with other golfers. Dwain dedicated his life to following Christ and sharing that love with those around him. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Bishop, Texas, where he served faithfully as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School director and volunteered with Texas Baptist Men. He lived his life according to Micah 6:8 “To act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.”
Dwain is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Selinda; his children, Dale (Dawn) Miller of Bellaire, Texas, Lori (David) Butts of Mansfield, Texas; grandchildren, Danica (Kyle) Gopffarth of Keller, Texas, Madison (Ben) Klophaus of Mansfield, Texas; Evin Miller and Holland Miller of Bellaire, Texas; great grandchildren, Kannyn and Avyn Gopffarth, Baby Klophaus due in January 2026; and Judy Miller (Sister-in-law) of New Braunfels, Texas; as well as many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Durwood and Lorene Miller and his brother, Don Miller.
A service celebrating Dwain’s life will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Texans on Mission in Dwain’s honor.
