Hey everyone,
Timely reminder of the second Berkeley Linux User Group meetup of the month.
Both the virtual and the in-person physical meetups start at 11:00am PDT this Sunday, August 27th and go to 2:00pm or however late people want to participate.

The consensus from the last meetup is that the in-person physical meetup will be at Caffe Strada as opposed to the fairly noisy (and student-packed) SoDoI Coffeehouse now that Cal's Fall Semester has already begun.
Caffe Strada's address is 2300 College Ave Berkeley, CA 94704 and it is located at the Southwest corner of College and Bancroft across the street from the main Cal campus (see its OpenStreetMap.org geolocation map at https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=19/37.8691/-122.25484 )

Chris P was able to successfully pick up the older-generation Lenovo ThinkPad X240 at the last meetup, and it's hopefully getting some good use :-)
The next BerkeleyLUG meetup will be two weeks after this one, on 2023-09-10, and active BerkeleyLUG participant Tom L will presumably be back in town to join the meetup.
FWIW, this year's very popular Solano Avenue Stroll will be that same Sunday of September 10th from 10am to 5pm, so the event will overlap that day's BerkeleyLUG meetup; please see https://www.solanoavenueassn.org/events/solano-avenue-stroll/ for further info on the Solano Ave Stroll.

I will not be there this next Sunday. I'll be heading back from my trip, but expect to arrive in SFO late afternoon.

I have been using the Lenovo x204 and like it a lot. Good key feel, excellent display and unbelievable battery life (they claim 19 hours, I have not tried it that long but it lasts 8 hours with light work (internet and word processing) with a lot of battery left over. I am getting used to Mint (my old Lenovo was on Ubuntu) and I think I like it. I have lots of learning to do. The one Linux program I have not found is a good speech to text, but I need to look some more.
As Aaron noted, this meeting conflicts with the Solano Stroll, an event I have attended for 20 years. I will be in the AC Transit mini-bus in the parade, then staffing the AC Transit booth, so I will miss the BLug meeting. I'll see you in 2 weeks.

Just wrapping up various affairs (by 11am) and then heading out to Caffe Strada.
Should be able to join up before 12Noon with everyone else present at the cafe for the in-person meetup :-)
