Hey everyone,

Timely reminder here that the second BerkeleyLUG
meetup of the month and very first one of Summer
2019, is this upcoming Sunday, June 23rd,
"officially" happening from 12Noon to 3pm PDT at
our new place of Berkeley's Cafe Blue Door.
Cafe Blue Door's Yelp page is www.yelp.com/biz/cafe-blue-door-berkeley
and its Facebook page is www.facebook.com/BerkeleyFloorCafe/
The time and dates of BerkeleyLUG meetups are also
viewable at www.berkeleylug.com/meetings
Unofficially, some of the BerkeleyLUG participants
have regularly hung-on at past meetups, working on
various projects and/or engaging in discussion/training
even well past 3:00pm.

Cafe Blue Door is located at 2244 Bancroft Way;
across the street from Cal's Edwards Stadium near
the extreme Southwestern corner of the campus.
When you enter the front door of the cafe, look
around for a gathering of other recognizable Linux
aficionados with laptops and other small computing
devices as well as [hopefully] a table sign or two
indicating the presence of the group.
Those of you dropping by this Sunday for the meetup
are also welcome to bring along extra surge-protected
power strips and long, grounded extension cords
for powering the various computing devices you're
bringing along with you, duly taking into account the
cafe's power-outlet constraints.

We would kindly request that all meetup attendees
please accommodate everyone else who may be present
at the main table and surrounding tables, even
including Cafe Blue Door's non-BerkeleyLUG patrons.

Thanks, Cheers and See ya there!

Note: There will likely be a separate notice of the
Raspberry Pi meetup planned for the following Sunday
of July 2nd, also to be held at Cafe Blue Door from
Noon until 3pm.

Right on for the privately-sent correction!
Since the Raspberry Pi meetup is apparently
planned for the _first_ Sunday of every month,
then of course the correct date of the meetup
is Sunday, July _7th_ instead of the 2nd.

Yes, Pi July is on the 7th.

Also note, this weekend is ham radio Field Day. All across the US and Canada hams set up mobile stations for a disaster preparation exercise.
The Saturday before the last BerkeleyLUG I went to the electronics flea market which is put on by the ham radio groups. There I talked to some of the Palo Alto group. PAARA. They are setting up in a park on the peninsula. Check paara.org Field day for details.

I am especially interested in satellite communications. It is supposed to be very easy to download the pictures from NOAA satellites. All with very cheap devices (RTL-SDR).

Anyways at that flea market I picked up some Thinkpads it off a junk pile. They all work amazingly.  One a cracked screen another a bad keyboard.
So my project this meeting will be install Linux on the Thinkpad w520 and on an Asus transformer Bay trail tablet.
