Rudder angle information for B411 - calibrating new autopilot

Hi Everyone,

I just upgraded my autopilot computer to a B&G NAC3 and added a new rudder sensor. Work was delayed and boat splashed before I could really play around with it.

I'm trying to do the dockside commissioning of the autopilot and it wants me to input the maximum rudder angle when turned to the starboard and port. Is this a data point that is known for the B411? Can I simply lift up the cockpit floor and measure the angle of movement of the visible rudder sensor itself or does this require diving the boat (i.e. waiting until next season) to figure out?

I don't know if the information is published, but the easy way to measure it would be to install your emergency tiller handle and measure the movement. (You do know where your emergency tiller handle is, right? ;-) )

That is great suggestion.

 

I do in fact know where it is. I recently sanded all the rust off and painted it bright orange. Hopefully the only use it will get is for figuring out the rudder angle!
