Hard Dodger B473

Hello:

My next project is to upgrade my dodger and Bimini.  I am hoping to go across the Atlantic in a few years and I think a hard dodger would be great.  The below YouTube video is an amazing hard dodger I would buy in a second.  Unfortunately, he is in New Zealand and I am in Florida...  Has anyone added a hard dodger?  Who did you use?  Thanks....

Harrison,

We have similar plans - both hard dodger and sailing across the Atlantic (for us, further).  When do you plan to do the dodger?  I think my brother, wife and I could make one with glassed over foam.  Would love to see or hear what you have in mind.

The other possibility is to look at a Catalina hard dodger. If you get the dimensions it might work for you.

Glad to meet another B473 owner.  

My boat is getting pulled out for a bottom job in 2 weeks.  I don't think I will get any surprises, but you never know....  Dodger/Bimini is next big project.  The current one is in pretty bad shape.  I like the idea of a hard permanent dodger, so I can add lights, electronics and just have a slightly safer place to be when riding out a storm or on a crossing.  I still have not found anyone who can even give me a quote.  Boat show season is starting up so might have some luck soon.   Would like to keep in contact.....  Would love to hear about your refit.

Yeah, all sounds good.  I sent you a direct message.

With the boat industry coming back strong after a 30 year slow decline, I suspect finding a fiberglass outfit with time for custom jobs might be difficult.  My wife, brother and I just chatted about maybe making our own.  Handy with epoxy, foam and fiberglass?  We might be able to team up and produce a few.
