Yeah the only positive I was going to highlight is IRC doesn't have an archive and I am not on IRC all the time nor can I get notifications for anything said on IRC.
Slack is free the last time I checked.

Just tossing out ideas - Maybe Gitter would be a better choice in that regard? Gitter offers similar funcionalities, but with unlimited archieve (AFAIK) for open sourced projects. Might not be the perfect choice since it is project-basd, not org-based (chatrooms based on GitHub orgs are possible, but that would be another thing), but aside from that it's pretty suitable.

This could be an awesome idea, who would have to setup the chatrooms? I could do it, but I do not have seniority in this project.

Hi Russ,I would very much like join the discussion, if possible. :)
You’re right, organisation chatrooms can not be public (can be joined freely). Also there seems to be a limit for logs in free organisation rooms, IIRC. It does seem possible to create a public, non-project-based, room, however:1. In the main window, click “Create a room” at the bottom left.2. Choose “Channel”.3. Select an owner (choose PyBee here?), and choose “Public”.4. Create.I tried one of my organisation accounts, and this seems to work.
