Fire ants and native bees - direct & indirect of the fire ants and also chemical control measures

Hi Beeple,

I am doing a research project on the impact of fire ants on native bees and their resources, as well as the impact of fire ant eradication methods on native bees. Have any of you worked in this area? There’s been almost nil pesticide research in Aus, let alone on native bees, and fire ants are a recent incursion, so I’ll looking to international research. Whilst I’ll be looking at published lit I expect that some research and findings will be in reports that aren’t readily available, or might be a topic some of you are currently working on. If anyone has any information to share with me I’d be very grateful .

Hi kit,

Do you refer to fire ants generally, or to specific one? The two well known ons are the Solenopsis invicta and Wasmannia auropunctata.
