Hi list,

I started using beancount + fava, and it's been amazing! I now have a better picture of what I have in the booking. Thanks so much!

This is one question I have that seems no one is doing? I tried to google around but wasn't able to find anyone is doing this: I have 3-member LLC and I'd like to do a quarterly or semi-annually profit distributions. It seems that I should do this:

2020-12-01 * "Profit distribution"
  Equity:Distribution:MemberA 200 USD
  Equity:Distribution:MemberB 200 USD
  Equity:Distribution:MemberC 200 USD
  Assets:Bank:BofA

This seems to work except, in the next year, it doesn't reset, it will always stay in my balance sheet. so it is not easy to find out how much are distributed for the current year or any given year? for example, I know in 2020, 600 will be distributed, but in 2021, the number will increase, and I don't know the beginning balance of it. did I do anything wrong? or any query I can use to achieve this?

Thanks,
Hao

When using Fava you can put a date filter in the box of the top middle. Valid values include:
2020
2020-11
2020-11-02
To get a view of how it changed during the time period, use the income statement view.

Even more. If you need a precise period (your fiscal year can be different from natural year), you can use: 2020-07-03-2020-09-10 e.g. to get reports.

Thanks both!

I can see them in Income Statement, however, the distributions won't reflect on the net profit. I can calculate the income for each given period, but I don't know how much are distributed for any period because those are balance sheet accounts.

I can create a Equity:PriorDistribution account, just like Equity:Earnings:Previous (this is also calculated per year?) What do you do if you have multiple shareholders, i.e. distribute dividends etc?
