Scheduled transactions and interest (compound?) calculations?

It's the new year, and after some setup and testing I'm happily using beancount+fava.

Now a few additional questions on the matters in the title:-

1. Scheduled transactions

With GnuCash I had a scheduled transaction which would trigger every 19th of the month. The purpose was basically to add a blank transaction to my home loan account (interest accrual). Is there a way to automate such a thing within beancount/fava or should I just use a cron job to append to my beancount ledger?

2. Interest calculations

Are there any facilities for auto calculating interest accrual in certain accounts on a certain date (compounded daily, weekly, monthly or whatever)? Plugins for that?
