I am starting to email people this week that we have selected from the "register your interest" form.  We have 300 boards for the beta and are primarily interested in people who have experience with uboot and Linux kernel.

Thank you
Drew

Hi Drew,

I was playing uboot when android 1.0 was on the market,I try and fully hacking/concert Windows CE pad into android 1.0.
Compile android and Kernel was so great I like it.

It will be Nice to play with the Risc-V board.

I’m excited.

Best regards,

Hi,

My work is playing Kernel and u-boot with TI AM335X and AM447X, also some other platform, such as Rockchip RK3328 RK3399 and so on.

It will be very nice to play with the Risc-V board.

Best regards,

Hi Drew,

Great to know that! Excited for getting the BeagleV in Pakistan! Me and my team are seasoned at development with Kernel and U-Boot. Hope to get the board IA.

Hi Drew,

I exited to listen that and also hoping that I will get one board to contribute in the open source community. We have expertise in the kernal development and U-boot and planning to port YOCTO for Beagle-V.

Thanks,
Zain Ali

Hello,
I already know how to use riscv and compile applications on it on riscv unleashed board.

Thank you,
Sharl.

Hi Drew,

Sounds very interesting, I’m pretty experienced with ARM 32/64bit first stage boot loader, u-boot, Linux kernel, driver and device tree, yocto, buildroot, etc.

I would be interested to get my hands on the beta if It's still available.

Thanks,
Henry

Hi,
Any chance we would support Yocto for the beagleV ?

Yes, we would like to support Yocto. There are several Yocto and OE
developers in the beta program including Khem Raj so I am hoping we
can make progress on that.

Thanks,
Drew

That's the main goal for the first pass of the Beta program,
developers who get boards, would help add support for X, Y and Z. ;)

I will be adding support to yocto. I use yocto where I work since 2016 so I got a little practice. I will also add support for gentoo.

We also have expertise to add YOCTO for different boards. Same we will be doing for BeagleV board as soon as we are getting it.

Those are very useful skills for the beta. I will contact you with details.

Thank you,

I'm not sure what remains to be done on the Yocto front -- looks like you've got a lot of experts responding already -- but I am a regular "user" of uboot and yocto (e.g. I end up porting to new boards, smashing other projects' poory-written layers into submission, maintaining builds for a few different projects, etc). It would sort of be a weekend project for me given work commitments, but if I can be of use, please let me know. Kind of excited about the BeagleV :-).

That said, some of the more obscure aspects of the system are probably the most interesting to me. The DSP, the MIPI-CSI transmitter, and maybe something real-time-ish (the PRUs have been *the reason* for going with the BBB on many projects I've run across).

Hello Michael,

That would be useful for the BeagleV beta. I would like to see
BeagleV well supported in Yocto and I think that will take many beta
developers developing and testing various aspects of Yocto. I'll
follow-up with you about the beta.

> That said, some of the more obscure aspects of the system are probably the most interesting to me. The DSP, the MIPI-CSI transmitter, and maybe something real-time-ish (the PRUs have been *the reason* for going with the BBB on many projects I've run across).

I would like to see CSI support improved and tested during the beta so
that sounds good.

There are several accelerators that could off "soft" real-time media
tasks from the U74 such as the StarFive ISP, the Cadence Vision DSP
(VP6) and Chips&Media encoder/decoders. However, I'm not yet sure the
timeline for when drivers will be ready for those different
accelerators. There should be better visibility into this once the
repos are public at the start of the beta.

Thanks,
Drew

Hi Drew,

I am an embedded developer working with Yocto and Linux Kernel (have
some minor patches accepted) in the IoT domain area. Just completed
two courses from Linux Foundation on RISC-V architecture. I aim my
next efforts towards RISC-V in the Linux Kernel. Although I have
already ordered an Orange Crab development board, I realize that this
is not enough for my goals. That is why I would like to ask you to
consider me as an early access program participant.

Sincerely,
Roman Storozhenko

Hello from Tokyo Drew,

Our team would love to get their hands on a board.
We are currently working on a smart city project in Tokyo and have been wanting to leverage RISC-V hardware.

Can we fill out the form?

Thank you

I would be very interested in joining the beta program and to contribute to the project.

Hi,

I'm currently working on the display and telematics teams for an automotive company. We develop the BSP for different boards, e.g. ARM and MicroBlaze. We currently work on Embedded Linux, specifically on U-Boot, Yocto, Buildroot, Linux Kernel, etc. Is it possible if we could get early access to the BeagleV board? I think we can help with the further development of the BSP for this board.
